Product Description
Poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate (PEGDMA) is a bifunctional macromer composed of ethylene glycol units with terminal methacrylate groups. Its structure allows for crosslinking through free-radical polymerization, resulting in hydrophilic, biocompatible hydrogels. Compared to the structurally similar Poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA), PEGDMA offers more rigidity and slightly less hydrophilicity due to the steric effects of the extra methyl group. PEGDMA is available in various molecular weights, enabling tailored crosslink densities and material characteristics.
The balance of flexibility and rigidity make it ideal for a wide range of applications such as:
Hydrogels: Used in biomedical devices, wound dressings, and drug delivery systems for controlled release.
3D Printing: Acts as a key crosslinker in photocurable resin formulations for biofabrication and precision-engineered scaffolds.
Dental Materials: Contributes to strong, durable, and hydrophilic dental adhesives and composites.
Coatings and Adhesives: Provides enhanced flexibility and adhesion for hydrophilic coatings in medical and industrial applications.
