1971

Publishes an expanded catalog

Polysciences publishes a catalog including Polymer Research, Life Sciences, Electron Microscopy, and Biomedical Applications sections, reflecting a broader and more interdisciplinary technical portfolio.

1979

Develops a large-scale taxol isolation process

Polysciences develops a large-scale process for isolating taxol, now used in treating solid tumor cancers, underscoring the company’s applied scientific depth.

1993

Ownership transition and European expansion

Michael Ott purchases Polysciences and establishes Polysciences Europe, GmbH, expanding the supply of specialized chemicals in Europe and beginning a family-ownership chapter centered on stewardship, long-term investment, and enduring customer relationships.

2003–2005

Expands through acquisition

The portfolio grows through the acquisition of Bangs Laboratories, Inc. (microsphere-based reagents and diagnostics), Dream Cosmetics (private-label cosmetics), and Dionis (consumer products), broadening the company’s reach while preserving technical specialization.

2011

Expands into Asia-Pacific with a Taipei office

As part of its broader Asia-Pacific expansion, Polysciences opened its Taipei office in 2011, extending regional support and strengthening the company’s international footprint.

2013

Achieves ISO 13485 certification

Polysciences achieves ISO 13485 Quality Management Certification, in addition to being FDA approved and SOCMA recognized.

Preps for bioprocessing and production readiness

Expands the commercial bioprocessing catalog, adds cleanroom space for production and packaging, establishes dedicated production suites for GMP and non-GMP custom synthesis projects, and forms Ott Scientific as the parent organization.

2021

Marks 60 years and expands globally

Polysciences celebrates 60 years of innovation, unifies legacy brands under Ethos Biosciences, and expands globally with the establishment of Ott Scientific Brasil and Ott Scientific India.

2022

Adds analytical and collaboration space

Finalizes buildout of an advanced analytical lab and “The Exchange,” a modern breakroom for collaboration and employee engagement, representing an investment in both technical capability and the people behind it.

2023

Expands QC and launches Kyfora Bio

Opens an expansive Quality Control lab, enhancing product testing, and launches Kyfora Bio, which is established as a standalone LLC in April 2024 to advance bioprocessing solutions for biopharma and biotech industries.

2024

Invests in new lab and safety capabilities

Polysciences is recognized as a SOCMA ChemStewards Safety Champion, completes a new lab suite buildout, and introduces a BSL-2 biolab, significantly enhancing research, development, and safety capabilities.
