Poly(vinyl alcohol), MW ~6000, 80% hydrolyzed

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA, PVOH) is a water-soluble polymer that offers excellent film-forming, adhesive, and emulsifying properties. This particular grade, with a molecular weight of ~6000 and 80% hydrolysis, balances water solubility with film strength and adhesion. It is widely used in applications requiring controlled water sensitivity and biodegradability. Also known as 80 mol% hydrolyzed poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc).

Applications:

Biomedical & Pharmaceutical: Utilized in hydrogels, drug encapsulation, and bioadhesive formulations due to its low toxicity and biocompatibility.
Adhesives & Binders: Provides strong adhesion in paper coatings, textiles, and wood glue applications.
